Greenwich Town Party Parade 2023

The Greenwich Town Party (GTP) held their first-ever GTP Parade and Party in the Park on May 23rd, in advance of their annual Greenwich Town Party event (a beloved Memorial Day Weekend tradition in Greenwich which is scheduled to take place on May 27th).

This inaugural GTP Parade (which was a free and non-ticketed event) featured a parade down Greenwich Avenue, followed by a party in Havemeyer Field. The parade was a lively and festive event, with people of all ages lining the streets to watch the marching bands, floats, and dancers.

The theme of this year’s town party is “New Orleans”, and this related GTP Parade and party featured members of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Brass Band – which provided the soundtrack for the parade. Their infectious music had everyone dancing and singing along.

The parade also highlighted a variety of local organizations including Meals on Main, Pathways, Barbara’s House, and Greenwich United Way.

After the parade, the Party in the Park in Havemeyer Field was even more fun. There was food, music, and dancing, and everyone was enjoying the beautiful weather.

The Party in the Park featured complimentary ice cream from Skip’s Good Humor and mouthwatering New Orleans-style “King Cake” from Black Forest Pastry Shop. For those craving more, there was local food favorites on-site including: PopUp Bagels, Island Fin Poke, Dough Girls, Neil’s on Wheels, LobsterCraft and Wendy’s Weenies

The music at the GTP Party in the Park was also great, with a variety of bands playing everything from jazz to rock to pop.

With the addition of the GTP Parade and Party in the Park, the Greenwich Town Party has taken their Memorial Day week festivities to a whole new level in ways that are bringing people together to experience the strength and spirit of our wonderful community.

About the Greenwich Town Party

An IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Greenwich Town Party is privately funded through generous contributions from residents and businesses and, in part, through ticket sales. In the spirit of mutual generosity, the GTP encourages everyone to contribute as much as they can so the General Admission ticket prices can remain at $85. One generous Greenwich resident matches all contributions, and 75 percent of the cost of each Community ticket is generously funded by individual and corporate sponsors of the GTP. The GTP has no cost to the Town of Greenwich and is not funded by taxpayers.
