Temple Sholom Purim 2023

Temple Sholom was enjoying Purim in grand fashion on Sunday, as over 200 children and adults dressed up in costume to celebrate the annual holiday.

Purim is a Jewish holiday that celebrates the events described in the biblical Book of Esther, when the Jewish people living in Persia were saved from a nefarious and existential plot against them. During Purim, Jewish people gather to read the Book of Esther, give gifts of food and drink to friends and family, donate to charity, and participate in festive meals and parades. The holiday is a time of rejoicing, feasting, and expressing gratitude for the survival and triumph of the Jewish people.

This year’s theme for the Purim festivities at Temple Sholom was “Purim at the Circus“.

Games, food, activities and fun were in order, as children had a chance to get their face painted, play carnival games, eat cotton candy and traditional Purim cookies (hamantaschen); plus much more.
