L'escale

Last summer, many Greenwich residents were upset to hear to hear reports that the popular French restaurant L’escale would close its doors on November 30th, 2022, after 20 years in business.

THE GOOD NEWS: Thanks to a recent a news release, those earlier concerns can finally be put to rest.  L’escale restaurant and Greenwich Hospitality Group, owners of Delamar hotels, have now announced that the restaurant will remain open.

Greenwich Hospitality Group will operate the restaurant at the Delamar Greenwich Harbor Hotel under a new licensing agreement. Executive Chef Frederic Kieffer, General Manager David Fletcher, and members of the staff will stay in place

Rick Wahlstedt, lessee and the Founder and Owner, states: “We have had an overwhelming response to L’escale’s planned closing from our fantastic clients who made their voices heard. Seeing L’escale continue what it has been doing at the Delamar for the foreseeable future is a very good thing. I am confident that the restaurant is in good hands and will continue to flourish.

In 1999, my old friend, famed restaurateur Jean Denoyer came to me with the concept of an elegant waterfront restaurant evocative of what one would find on the French Riviera. His idea led to what became L’escale,” explained Charles Mallory, Founder and CEO of Greenwich Hospitality Group. “L’escale is and always has been an exemplary culinary destination, and it will continue to delight guests and welcome private events for years to come.

According to Mallory, the restaurant will close, as was previously announced, on January 1st for up to three months to refresh the dining room, bar, outdoor terrace, and banquet facilities.

L’escale is located at 500 Steamboat Rd, Greenwich, CT 06830. For more information visit lescalerestaurant.com and for reservations call (203) 661-4600 or visit OpenTable.
